Trying Pro Features

The BizAnalyzer demo includes full Pro tier access so you can experience Goal Center, enhanced AI context, and goals-based forecasting before subscribing.

Try the demo – no account needed.

Demo mode uses sample accounting data and persists goals in browser session storage (cleared when you close the tab). Production Pro accounts store goals in the cloud and sync across devices.

Goal Center

Overview

The Goal Center lets you set financial targets and track your progress against actual accounting data. Goals are stored in the cloud and persist across sessions.

Accessing Goal Center

  1. Click Goal Center in the Analysis group in the sidebar
  2. The editable goal grid displays your current goals

Adding Goals with Quick Fill

Goal Center uses a QuickFill-only workflow. The fastest way to populate goals is from your forecast data:

  1. Navigate to a financial statement (P&L, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow)
  2. Enable Forecast in Data Controls and configure your method and growth rate
  3. Navigate to Goal Center
  4. Click Quick Fill from Forecast in the action bar
  5. BizAnalyzer scans your forecast data and creates goals for all available metrics

Quick Fill generates goals across 36 metrics in six categories: P&L (9 metrics including Revenue, Net Income, Gross Profit), Balance Sheet Assets (8), Balance Sheet Liabilities (6), Balance Sheet Equity (3), Cash Flow (4), and Ratios (5). Only metrics with available forecast data are populated.

If existing goals are present, Quick Fill archives them to goal history before replacing them.

Editing Goals

All goal fields are editable directly in the grid:

  • Click any cell to edit its value
  • Changes save automatically after a brief delay (600ms)
  • The progress bar and status update in real time as you edit

The target date automatically determines the goal period:

  • Annual: Date in December with day >= 28 (e.g., Dec 31, 2026)
  • Quarterly: Date at end of a quarter-end month (Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec)
  • Monthly: Any other date defaults to monthly

Goal Progress and Status

Each goal tracks progress automatically:

Status Meaning
Active Goal is in progress, target date not yet reached
Complete Actual value meets or exceeds target
At Risk Progress is below expected pace
Behind Significantly behind target

Progress is calculated differently for expense vs revenue metrics:

  • Revenue/Asset goals: Higher actual = more progress
  • Expense/Liability goals: Lower actual = more progress (inverted)

Best Practices for Goal Setting

Effective financial planning starts with clear, measurable targets:

  • Start with annual revenue and net income goals
  • Set quarterly expense targets to control spending
  • Define cash position goals to maintain liquidity
  • Track progress monthly against targets

Goal Center provides structured target-setting and real-time progress tracking to support data-driven business planning.

Using Goals for Decision Making

Goal Center transforms financial planning into structured analysis:

  1. Set your target: Define where you want to be (revenue, profit, cash)
  2. Enable Goals forecast: See projections based on your targets
  3. Compare actual vs target: Track progress in real time
  4. Adjust strategy: Make data-driven decisions based on the gap between current trajectory and desired outcomes

Goal Center Toolbar

The toolbar above the grid provides these actions:

Action Description
Save Goals (Pro only) Persists all goals to cloud storage
Edit Values Enables inline editing of target values
Clear Table Archives current goals to history, then clears the grid
Filter By Report Filters visible goals by statement type (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Ratios)

The action bar below the grid contains the Quick Fill from Forecast button and the Show History toggle.

Goal History

Click Show History in the action bar to view archived goal sets. Each archived entry shows the original targets alongside actual outcomes at the time of archiving. Pro tier stores history in Firestore (persists across devices). Demo mode stores in browser session storage.

Enhanced AI Context

Pro Token Budget

Pro subscribers get a 40,000-token context budget (2x Standard’s 20,000 tokens). This means:

  • More financial data included in each AI query
  • Deeper analysis across more time periods
  • Better support for multi-statement queries
  • Less data trimming for complex questions

Context Intelligence

The AI context system uses intent-based routing to prioritize the most relevant data for your question:

  • Chart queries preserve time series trends (priority 9)
  • Ratio questions prioritize ratio data (priority 8)
  • Comparison queries include delta packs (period-over-period changes)
  • General queries balance all data types evenly

The token pill in the AI Insights header shows your current context usage and warns when approaching the budget limit.

Persistent Data Caching

How It Works

Standard tier pulls fresh data from QuickBooks® Online on every session. Pro tier uses intelligent server-side caching to dramatically improve load times.

Period-aware freshness logic:

Data Period Refresh Frequency Why
Current year Every 4 hours Active data changes frequently
Prior closed year Weekly Occasional adjustments possible
Historical years (2+ years old) Every 30 days Finalized data rarely changes

Your 2022 financials are not changing, but your current year data updates frequently. Pro’s caching strategy optimizes for both speed and data freshness.

Performance Benefits

  • First load: Same as Standard (fresh pull required)
  • Subsequent loads: 60-80% faster
  • Large datasets (5+ years): Up to 90% faster

The more historical data you have, the bigger the Pro performance advantage.

Cache Management

From Settings > Data Management:

  • Refresh Data – Forces a fresh pull from QuickBooks® Online and updates the cache
  • Clear Cache – Removes all cached data (rebuilds on next load)

Cache is automatically cleared when you disconnect your accounting software connection.

Privacy Note

Cached data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore with the same encryption and security as all BizAnalyzer data. Only you can access your cache – it is isolated by your user ID and company ID. No personally identifiable information (PII) is stored in the cache.

When you disconnect QuickBooks® Online or delete your account, all cached data is immediately removed.

Goals-Based Forecasting

Using Goals as Forecast Inputs

When you have goals set in Goal Center, a Goals button appears in the Forecast method toggle:

  1. Enable Forecast in Data Controls
  2. Click the Goals method button
  3. The forecast engine reads target values from your Goal Center
  4. Financial statements display projections based on your goal targets

How It Works

  • Annual goals are used directly for annual forecasts
  • For quarterly forecasts, annual targets are divided by 4
  • For monthly forecasts, annual targets are divided by 12
  • If no goals have target values, the system falls back to the Level method

Combining Goals with Forecasting

For the best results:

  1. Set goals in Goal Center for your key metrics
  2. Switch to a financial statement (P&L, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow)
  3. Enable Forecast and select the Goals method
  4. Compare projected goal-based values against actual trends

FAQs for Pro Features

Q: Can I downgrade from Pro to Standard?

Yes. Cancel your Pro subscription through Stripe (Settings > Manage Subscription). Your access reverts to Standard at the end of the billing period. Goal data is preserved but not accessible until you upgrade again.

Q: Are my goals visible to anyone else?

No. Goals are private to your account and protected by Firestore security rules.

Q: What happens to cached data if I downgrade?

Cached data remains in Firestore but is not actively refreshed. If you upgrade again, the cache resumes normal operation.

Q: Can I set goals without running a forecast first?

Quick Fill from Forecast is the primary way to create goals. You can also edit target values directly in the grid after Quick Fill populates the initial entries.
